Why most tools miss the SaaS shape
SaaS funnels have a different shape than course or coaching funnels. The path is: viewer → trial signup → activation → paid conversion → expansion. Each step happens days, weeks, or months apart, often on different devices, often after watching multiple videos.
Most tools collapse this into "did the trial come from YouTube?", yes or no, and stop. The actual signal you need is "which videos drive trials that convert", not "which videos drive trials." A video that drives 1,000 trials that all churn at day 14 is worth less than a video that drives 50 trials that all upgrade.
What clickt shows you
Per video, across the funnel:
- Trial signups, captured the moment a viewer enters their email anywhere on your funnel.
- Activations, define this on your side. Fire a single event when a user hits the threshold that matters to you ("invited a teammate", "connected a source", etc.). One line of code in your app.
- Paid conversions, the trial-to-paid moment, valued at MRR added.
- Expansion / churn, connected Stripe later this year ties refunds, plan changes, and renewals back to the originating video.
Every video gets a per-MRR-added number. Videos that drive high-LTV trials beat videos that drive high-volume trials, and you can finally see that.
Cross-device matters extra here
B2B buyers in particular watch on the device they're not working on. Phone on the couch. Tablet on the plane. The decision happens later, at a desk, often via email forwarded to a colleague. clickt catches that path.
What you'll do in the first 30 minutes
- Sign up. Free tier, no credit card.
- Connect YouTube. Tag the videos that link to your product.
- Add the snippet to your marketing site and to your in-app activation / thank-you / upgrade pages.
- Wire your activation event. One line of JavaScript from your app code, fired when a user crosses your activation threshold.
- Wait a week. First numbers populate inside 24 hours; activation and paid numbers populate as users move through your funnel.
Roadmap notes
Direct Stripe and Paddle integration is on the way, once connected, refunds, plan changes, and renewals flow into per-video attribution automatically. Per-video LTV becomes a real number rather than a month-by-month snapshot.
Where we don't help yet
If your trial signup runs entirely on a third-party SSO flow (Auth0 hosted login, etc.) where the email capture happens after a redirect, you'll need one extra line of configuration. It's documented in the install guide.
Pure word-of-mouth SaaS sales, where the founder mentions the product in a video, no link, audience finds the URL via search, can't be tracked. The fix is simple: put a tracked link in the description. That's the whole job.
The honest bit
SaaS attribution is harder than course attribution. The cycle is longer, the funnel has more steps, the buyer is more cross-device. Our numbers will be honest about what they can't see, the unattributed bucket on a SaaS dashboard runs higher than on a course funnel. That gap shrinks as we ship more integrations.
Free tier first. See whether the signal you get is good enough to plan content around. If it is, the upgrade is obvious.
